The Waterboy Review

Genres: Comedy and Sports
Running Time: 1hr. 28min.
MPAA rating: PG-13 for language and some crude sexual humor.
Starring: Adam Sandler, Kathy Bates, Henry Winkler, Fairuza Balk
Personal rating: B- (3.5 out of 5)

Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler) is a socially inept 31-year-old from Louisiana. He is home schooled and sheltered by his over-protective Mama (Kathy Bates). His only contact with society is his water boy job for a college team where the players relentlessly make fun of him, and his coach doesn't let him fight back. This all changes when Bobby gets a new coach (Henry Winkler) who lets him stand up for himself. Bobby finally releases years of stored up rage and is transformed into the most devastating tackler on the team. Meanwhile Bobby has a love intrest in the form of Vicki Vallencourt (Fairuza Balk). Now he has to learn how to play football and go to college, all without mama's knowledge. The Waterboy offers a high dosage of humor, which vary from mildly amusing to genuinely funny. Unfortunately, Sandler's attempts to develop his character and inject a moral into the movie arn't handled well. Overall however, The Waterboy is an enjoyable comedy, especially for Adam Sandler fans.

The Waterboy: 10en3 Film Reviews:

Anthologised here are the 10en3's enthusiastic reviews of The Waterboy. The class loved the film and it was welcome break for many from the seriousness of George Orwell's Animal Farm. These reviews demonstrate not only their enthusiasm for the film but their skill as reviewers and consumers of popular culture. Special thanks to Robert who put this together in a flash. I am really pleased that our work could be discussed and displayed in such a useful forum. Enjoy.

Waterboy review

The movie the Waterboy is about a mentally challenged man named Bobby Boucher who is a Waterboy for an American football team. One day at training all of the football players were teasing Bobby, and he gets so and that he went and did a big tackle on the on the players. The coach saw Bobby tackle the player and because it was just a good tackle the coach let him join the team as a tackler. Bobby’s mum does not want Bobby playing foozball because she doesn’t wasn’t to loose him as well as Bobby’s dad. Bobby went behind his mums back and plays football anyway. Bobby helps his team get to the Grand Final but he’s mum found out that he was playing and was trying to stop him from playing. He’s mum final let him play and Bobby led the team to victory in the Grand Final. Over the think that the movie was good and funny.

Film Title: The Waterboy
My Personal Rating: 4/5 Stars
Film Rating: PG
Duration: 90 minutes

The Waterboy is an excellent comedy, about an adult whose passion is re-hydrating a football team, regardless of whether that is a ‘proper’ thing for him to do or not. It is after he is fired from his job and seeks being a waterboy elsewhere. At his new job the coach of the football team gives him permission to tackle a player that is scrutinizing him, and so all of the years of abuse that Bobby (Adam Sandler) is channelled into his tackle, working as a sort of “tackling fuel”. This amazing ability of his ultimately leads to the victory of the underdog team, and Bobby is finally recognized and appreciated. This film is suitable for all ages and would be enjoyed by anyone with a sense of humour.

By picturing his opponents as the people who have bullied him in the past, Bobby Boucher becomes the team’s star. “The Waterboy” Rated M. Running time approximately 90 minutes.

“The Waterboy” is a film that takes the acting skills of Adam Sandler up a notch. His mindless comedic actions provide laughter over and over again, from souped-up lawn mowers to the senseless noises he makes preceding a devastating football tackle. His excellent supporting cast compliment Mr Sandler and each other in general, emphasising the comedy of the film. Overall, the film has memorable moments that you will remember for a long time.

The Waterboy Film review

Film: The Waterboy
Director: Frank Coraci
Rating: PG
Duration: 87mins
Stars: The film stars, Adam Sandler (Bobby Boucher) and Kathy Bates (Mrs. Boucher)
Rating: I personally rate this film 5/5

The Waterboy is a comedy about Bobby Boucher who is a mentally handicapped person, obsessed with water. He lives with his mum who educates him on everything, even though her opinions are mostly wrong. She is overprotective of him and won’t let him socialise with anyone. Bobby gets fired from his position as waterboy in a major college football team and takes up a position in a much poorer college football team. One day the quarterback pushes him too far and he tackles him. From then on he is the star of his team and leads them to the bourbon bowl. This film is one of the funniest I have seen in a long time. It satirises typical American football movies where the quarterback is the star. Bobby has really has no idea about the tactics and rules of football but because of his sheer anger which he derives from all the people who are mean to him over the years he is able to produce spine crunching tackles, he calls it “tackling fuel”. This is must watch film.

Waterboy Film Review

Film Title: The Waterboy
Rating: 3 out of 5
Film Rating: M (Australia)
Duration: 1hr 30mins

The Waterboy is a film about a football team’s water boy, Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler) who is discovered by a down and out coach (Henry Winkler) who is on the verge of desperation. By visualising his opponents as people who have denigrated him over the years the waterboy is able to use his anger and tackle much bigger opponents, however the story goes much deeper as we learn of past events that motivate both Bobby and his coach to follow their dreams. The Waterboy is a sporting comedy and it is targeted at audiences who merely want to be entertained because of the simplicity that sport and comedy brings to the big screen.

The Water Boy

Rating: PG

Length: 90min

Hilariously funny, a personal opinion for the movie ‘The Water Boy’. This movie satirizes how the lives of some Americans and how there lives revolve around there great sport of ‘foosball’. It also mocks how some mother’s take care and how they bring up their children when that think that they know all about the world, for example; “Mama said alligators are angry because they have all them teeth and no tooth brush”, this is a quote made by Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler) when he goes to collage. As a movie “The Water Boy” is a comical movie that is appropriate for all ages. I give “The Water Boy” a 10/10 rating.

The water boy film review

Title: The Water Boy
Rating: **** (4 stars)
Film rating: PG
Duration: 2 hours 20 minutes

The water boy is a great and funny movie. The rating is PG so the kids and adults can watch it and still have lots of fun. The duration on the movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes so not to long for the children. This movie has (Adam Sandler) in it and I would give the water boy 4 out of 5 stars. The genre of this movie is comedy, the maker of this film is trying to show that anyone can be good at something as long as they put there mind to it. The biggest and best event in the movie is at the end of the movie. Were bobby (Adam Sandler) comes and saves the match to win the grand final. I think this is a great movie and I advise you to watch this with your family. And this will show your children to not pick on kids because they are probably just as good as them at something.

Water-Boy is about a boy called Bobby Boucher, who is living a life that has no future; he is being paid little money at a football club being a “water boy” and being picked on and laughed at for doing something so stupid being a water boy for a living makes Bobby look bad. But Bobby’s chances are looking bad after being fired he starts up again in a weaker club for free and basically getting laughed at again, but eventually his temper snaps and he goes crazy and tackles the quarter back.
The coach spots this and signs him up to the team his luck had completely changed but after hiding from his mum and making his team get into the Bourbon bowl he gets exposed by the opposition that he never did school.
After this incident Bobby went to the coach and got ready to say “why did you do this to me” but the coach thought if he did the exam he could play and that’s what he did. Bobby scored well in the exam and played in the Bourbon bowl and after being behind the Mud dogs came back and won the game.
At the end after the game his mum saying “foosball is for the devil” changed to “foosball is not for the devil its for my son”.
The movie ends well Bobby getting married his dad getting his head kicked in by his mum and earning respect from his team.

Film Title: The Waterboy

My Rating: ***

Film Rating: PG, M

Duration: 2 hrs 20 min

The title of the film is “The Waterboy.” This film is a comedy and it targets teenagers and young adults. The film is about the team’s waterboy who has never played football before is put on the field and he helps his very unsuccessful team to win the Bourbon Bowl.
The main character is Bobby Boucher who was the team’s waterboy. Bobby was not a very smart person because he was taught by his mother and his mother told him that everything was the “devil.” While preparing the water he was teased and he let out his frustration with a fierce tackle. That was how he began to play football and he helped his team win the Bourbon Bowl.
The waterboy (Adam Sandler) is a caricature of a mentally inhibited young who is the but of every joke”.

Title: The Water Boy
Personal Rating: 7 ½
Film Rating: PG
Duration: 87 minutes

The Water boy is about a boy named Bobby (Adam Sandler) who the normal person would consider un-normal. He has this great obsession with water and ends up becoming the water boy for the school footy team. The team hasn’t won a match and is trying to regain a spot off the bottom of the ladder. Because all the kids on the football team consider him wired he gets bagged a lot, one of the team members takes this to far by bringing his mum into it and Bobby just looses it, he lands one of the best tackles the coach has ever seen and is asked to play. He starts playing even though he isn’t a part of the school and the team starts winning, this continues on until it is discovered. He is forced to pass a test that will enable him to study at school and play as him mum calls it foozball.

The Water Boy is a comedy film that mainly targets school kids that are of the opinion that not everyone is equal and that you can treat people more fairly than others. It also targets anyone who wants a really good laugh. It is one of the funniest films I have watched, then again all Adam Sandler’s films are. I gave this movie a 7 ½ /10. It was very enjoyable.

Review:
Waterboy!

The hilarious comedy Waterboy was about a mentally disabled young man called Bobby Boucher becoming a “foosball!” player, making many friends and even a dirty girlfriend who he loves. But the problem is his “mamma” who doesn’t want Bobby to leave her all alone at home because she gets very bored and lonely. She thinks everybody is “the Devil!” and doesn’t want Bobby to see anyone or play “foosball” which he wants to play so badly because he is very good at it.
His friends all get an act together and help him make his “mamma” choose to let bobby do what he enjoys doing and do what he wants to do.
I found this movie very funny, entertaining and a great “fun class bludge”.
I recommend it to people of 5 years to 30 years old.

The Water boy

Film title: the Water Boy

Personal rating:

Film rating: PG - 13

Duration: 90 minutes

The movie “the Water Boy” is a comedy based on a young boy with no true education and lives with his own mother. He obeys and only does what his mother says and gets fired from his previous job as a water boy. Bobby (Adam Sandler) gets bullied a lot for being a water boy and was the but of every joke. When he joins up for his new team as a water boy, he still gets bullied. The coach gives him some advice to stand up for your self, so he tackled the guy that bullied him to the ground. He was so aggressive he became part of the team and seems to be the most aggressive line backer (his position) in the league. This film is for the family for the reasons of the film being funny and suites family problems. The film promotes that people who are not smart can still achieve something in life. The film is set on the key event of the bourbon bowl. The film is a classic comedy and is design for family fun I recommend the movie for all ages.

The film ‘The water boy’ is a comedy that targets the audience of children and even young adults. The purpose of the film is to tell us that anyone can accomplish anything and to not give up on our dreams.

The water boy is a film about a boy who is a bit mentally unstable yet very keen into being the water boy of a popular football team. After many years in this business he was unfortunately fired which led him into finding a new team to continue his passion in making sure the football team perform their best with the help of H2O. He ends up playing for the team that he provides water for and is a big success. The coach realises his talent for foosball and gets him to play in the team. They end up winning the season thanks to Bobby.

This story takes place in America and went over a period of months. Some of the key characters are: Bobby, his mother, his girlfriend, the coaches and the nice black player who is the only one to treat Bobby with respect at the start of the film.

The Water Boy is a film about a team water boy who finds out he has the natural ability as a tackler in the game of American foot ball. The Water Boy is in the genre of a Comedy film and it features many comedian actors such as Adam Sandler who plays the main character Bobby Boucher and Rob Schneider who plays a townie. This movie is a good film if you just wish to sit down and have a laugh at random people getting tackled or the main character’s stuttering and stupid actions. The whole film is talking about the over protectively of some parents and the stupidness of most Americans. All in all I give this film a 4 out of 5 because of its senseless humor.

The WaterBoy
Personal Rating: **** (5 Stars)
Rating: PG
Runtime: 90 mins.

Outrageously funny, are the first two words that come to mind when one thinks of the movie “The WaterBoy”. This comedy satirizes the way that some peoples lives may be, it takes off the way mothers take care of their children, being over protective and smothering, it also twines a story of hope seamlessly into a over the top comedy. Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler) aka “The WaterBoy”, is an un-educated, seemingly hopeless young man, who is the WaterBoy for one of the local football teams, that is, until he finds an undiscovered talent for football one day, when he becomes furious and tackles one of the team members. The coach from his new team then drafts him into the team. It continues from there with an ingenious storyline and memorable moments, like Bobby tackling his College teacher, and also “Farmer Fran”, a migrant who cannot speak English, helping the team. The movie provides great hearty laughs all the way through, instantly a classic, one of the most memorable comedies of our modern time.
